L’apocalypse johannique : une rhétorique littérarisée de la menace eschatologique et de la peur

Résumé
L’interrogation du fonctionnement textuel à partir duquel le texte apocalyptique peut s’ériger en objet littéraire révèle qu’il dessine, lors de sa réception, les contours langagiers d’un pacte scripturaire et d’un horizon d’attente propres à la littérature biblique apocalyptique. Le régime rétrospectif de la structuration narrative et les catégories actantielles monstrueuses, vampiriques, démoniaques, humanoïdes et phénoménales qui s’y meuvent construisent discursivement la scénographie de la fictionnalité fantastique. Mais cet art verbal de l’étrange qu’affiche le texte johannique ne vaut que par sa visée perlocutoire. Il s’agit, pour l’auteur, de construire, à partir de postures énonciatives et de procédés narratifs spécifiques, la conviction des destinataires en une humanité menacée de disparition par la volonté divine vindicative et en la peur qu’ils devraient éprouver.
Abstract
The interrogation of textual workings from which the apocalyptic text can be wrought as a literary object shows that it draws, during its reception, the linguistic contours of a scriptural pact and of a horizon of expectation that originate in biblical apocalyptic literature. The retrospective regime of the narrative structure and the monstrous, vampiric, demonic, humanoid and phenomenal actants that move within it build discursively the scene of fantastic fictionality. But the verbal art of the strange that is exhibited in the Johannic text finds its worth only in its perlocutionary aims. It consists in an act, by the author, to build, with enunciative postures and specific narrative processes, upon the conviction held by the receivers in a humanity threatened to disappear by a vindictive divine will, and to aggravate the fear that should be brought about by this threat.
